This is my prediction, based on the latest report by the biggest eCommerce platform made in Canada and operating globally.
The year 2020 has been a jet fuel into the eCommerce engine! It has helped the industry to advance a decade and has altered many aspects of starting a business by entrepreneurs, growing business and also on consumers’ habit of shopping and paying.
We are in a pivotal era of eCommerce and shopping evolution.
I am a web developer and Shopify consultant, as many of you may know. Whenever a client comes to me for an eCommerce project, I try to ignite the important thing in his/her mind: eCommerce is much more than a transaction. Shopping experience is an interaction and a relation between the business and the customer.
Shopify pored over data from more than one million merchants on the platform and collected survey insights from consumers all over the world to get the full picture of what’s coming.
There are five key predictions unlocked in the report, based on the trends we are seeing from Shopify data.

Canadians have been number one in adapting eCommerce and buying online. There has been %6 increase of first time online buyers in Canada.
Canadians are amongst top five countries that are uncomfortable with in-person shopping.
About %50 of Canadians have shifted their spendings to online shopping.
Canadians are not likely to book appointment for in-store scheduling.
Approximately %47 of Canadians have experienced to use pick-up points for the first time.
